The Association for Middle Level Education Foundation Fund Committee is sponsoring the AMLE Collegiate Middle Level Association Chapter Grant. This Award is presented to the CMLA chapter who has demonstrated commitment to the preparation of future middle level teachers.

Presentation application
Award
The AMLE Foundation Fund will be giving two $2,000 Grants to help defray the cost of sending students to the 2020 AMLE Annual Conference in National Harbor, Maryland and a guaranteed presentation at the annual conference. The advisor can receive up to $500 to defray their personal travel costs for attending the AMLE annual conference, or they may repurpose the expense for student travel. The students will be recognized at the CMLA Summit.
Eligibility
To apply for this grant:
- Chapter must be a recognized chapter of the Collegiate Middle Level Association
- Use the money only to defer AMLE Annual Conference registration, travel, housing, and/or meals
- Send at least 2 students to the conference
- Previous recipients of the grant are eligible to apply

The AMLE Foundation honored the Georgie College & State University with a 2019 CMLA Chapter Grant Award. Madison England, Morgan Harris, Emily Nicoletti presented at #AMLE19 in Nashville on Democratic Education: A Model Americans Should Get Behind.
University of Wisconsin, La Crosse
The AMLE Foundation honored the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse with a 2019 CMLA Chapter Grant Award. Ashley Burke, Abigail Jirikowic, Valerie Meyer, Emily Thorpe and Samuel Yoder presented at #AMLE19 in Nashville on Increasing Equity and Empowerment by “Widening the Circle.”
2018
University of North Carolina – Charlotte
The AMLE Foundation Fund honored the University of North Carolina-Charlotte with a 2018 CMLA Chapter Grant Award. Advisor Dr. Hilary Dack and students Haley Gibbs and Bonnie Roop presented at the CMLA Summit at AMLE2018 in Orlando on Preservice Teachers’ Perspective on Differentiation: Misconceptions and More.

Georgia Southern University Awarded CMLA Chapter Grant
The AMLE Foundation Fund honored Georgia Southern University with the 2017 CMLA Chapter Grant Award. The CMLA members will present on co-teaching strategies that relate to the theme of “Preparing to Teach at the Middle School: A Pre-service Teacher’s Perspective” at the 44th Annual Conference for Middle Level Education in Philadelphia.

In October 2016 at the AMLE 43rd Annual Conference for Middle Level Education in Austin, Texas the AMLE Foundation Fund honored representatives from Georgia College.
2015
Three College Chapters Awarded CMLA Chapter Grant
In October 2015, at the AMLE 42nd Annual Conference for Middle Level Education in Columbus, Ohio, the AMLE Foundation Fund honored representatives from three universities for their winning submissions: Ashland University (OH), Lee University (TN), and the University of Texas-Arlington (TX). The CMLA Grant is awarded annually to the Collegiate Middle Level Association chapter that has demonstrated commitment to the preparation of future middle grades teachers.
Representatives from Ashland University, Ashleigh Persinger, Morgan Wiles, Kali Bolin, and Jason Ellis (pictured above left to right), presented on their partnership with Ashland’s Juvenile Justice Program, which, since 2013, helps young adolescents continue learning given limited access to school.
Representatives from Lee University, Ellen Porter, Emily Collins, Alyssa Bell, and Haley Cuffman (pictured above left to right), presented on strategies for building and growing a CMLA chapter, and on facilitating team-building exercises and discussion.
Representatives from the University of Texas – Arlington, Dianne Hubbard, Suzanne Salas, and Kayla Long (pictured at left above with Foundation Fund Chair Elizabeth Fogartie), presented on the experiences of student teachers as they work to relate to middle school students.
2014
CMLA Chapter Grant Awarded to Otterbein
At the AMLE 41st Annual Conference for Middle Level Education in Nashville, Tennessee, in November 2014, the AMLE Foundation Fund honored representatives from Otterbein University, Westerville, Ohio, for their winning submission, “Keeping the Legacy Alive by Telling our Own Stories.” The students presented a session at the conference about what they wanted their own legacies in middle level education to be. The CMLA Grant is awarded annually to the Collegiate Middle Level Association chapter that has demonstrated commitment to the preparation of future middle grades teachers.

In November 2013, at the AMLE 40th Annual Conference for Middle Level Education in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the AMLE Foundation Fund honored representatives from Shippensburg University for their winning submission, “Understanding High Risk Decision-Making by Middle Level Students: A Hands-on Participant Workshop.” The CMLA Grant is awarded annually to the Collegiate Middle Level Association chapter that has demonstrated commitment to the preparation of future middle grades teachers.
Amanda Cloran, Merissa Scarr, and Melissa Weisser presented a session at the conference that addressed the risk taking that can place middle level students’ emotional, social, and physical health at risk.

In November 2012, at the AMLE 39th Annual Conference for Middle Level Education in Portland, Oregon, the AMLE Foundation Fund honored representatives from Georgia College and State University, Milledgeville, for their winning submission, “A Student’s Perception of What is Required to Become an Effective Middle Level Teacher.” .” The CMLA Grant is awarded annually to the Collegiate Middle Level Association chapter that has demonstrated commitment to the preparation of future middle grades teachers.
Kaitlin Wilson, Alice Kohler, Tynisha Harris, and Kalie Aiken presented a session at the conference that addressed the valuable strategies and noteworthy processes of collaboration seen in accomplished middle level mentor teachers.
