- To engage one-on-one with faculty who truly understand your unique challenges and goals.
- To build connections with a cohort of colleagues facing similar challenges and opportunities.
- To build your professional learning into implementation with dedicated and facilitated workshop time designed around the key concepts most important to you.
- To leave with a roadmap to meet your goals for the next school year and for your own professional growth.
- To be recognized for your professional learning by earning the Middle Grades Leadership and Successful Middle School Ready digital badges
The Institute is designed to offer a tailored, personalized experience for attendees, maximize opportunities for connection, and provide content in a variety of formats. We accomplish this through a range of sessions that include:
- Welcome Reception – The Institute is designed to be a retreat-like experience for attendees. So let’s get to know each other! During the reception you will connect with attendees that have similar objectives, get to know the faculty you’ll be working with over the next three days, and orient yourself to the amazing experience you’re about to enjoy.
- Homebase – All attendees are divided into Homebase teams that meet regularly with their assigned coach throughout the Institute to dig into middle level best practice, debrief their experience as a group, and ensure attendees are on track to meet their objectives.
- Deep Dive Workshops – Workshop time are longer, coach-led sessions that provide attendees with the time and guidance to take your learning and planning to the next level. Need to kick up your advisory program to 2.0? Looking to design a master schedule that meets student and staff needs? Interested in creating more SEL supports for your students? Attendees will tackle these and more during Workshop time.
- Teambuilding and Treats – The Institute is all about empowering attendees with strategies and tactics you can bring back to your school. During Teambuilding and Treats, snacks will be on hand while your work together with your fellow attendees to complete teambuilding activities that can be used in your school/classroom as well.
- General Session – We want you to leave inspired and ready to implement the amazing insights you’ve gathered at the Institute. The General Session will provide you with that inspiration and next step guidance.
You’ll also enjoy dozens of breakout sessions from our expert faculty, all aligned around topics that attendees have identified as the most relevant.
Topic areas typically include:
- Understanding and implementing the research-based characteristics of a Successful Middle School
- Scheduling with middle grades best practice in mind
- Creating an impactful advisory program
- Addressing the social and emotional needs of students
- Promoting staff morale and care
- Designing effective middle grades teams and integrated instruction
- Middle school transitions
- Confronting equity issues: doing it right for all students
- Effectively implementing technology into your school/classroom
- Family and community engagement
We assemble a world-class faculty of award-winning expert practitioners from a diverse range of backgrounds and school settings who have tackled the same challenges you’re facing as a middle school leader.
