AMLE Committees

The Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) Board of Trustees has designated the following advisory and review committees to guide the work of the association.

Publications Review Committee
The Publications Review Committee serves as a think tank for the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) by providing feedback and direction for the publications program. The committee's responsibilities include reviewing manuscripts, reviewing materials submitted for co-distribution and co-publishing, and assisting with proofreading and final page proofs as needed. Research Advisory Committee
The AMLE Research Advisory Committee supports the Association for Middle Level Education as a voice for middle grades education and young adolescents by advising the association regarding research-based, credible evidence. In support of AMLE's commitment to research the Research Advisory Committee (a) promotes and disseminates research; (b) encourages practitioners to become more involved in inquiry as consumers, collaborators, and practitioner-researchers; (c) establishes networks with organizations that promote and conduct research about young adolescents; and (d) advocates collaborative research efforts that draw from many disciplines and reflect multiple perspectives. Professional Preparation Advisory Committee
The Professional Preparation Advisory Committee provides leadership to professional educators with regard to middle school teacher preparation licensure, and National Board Certification. The committee's goals are to serve the needs of middle school teacher educators through professional development activities; promote growth in the number and quality of middle school teacher preparation programs; promote separate and distinct middle school licensure; monitor the development, revision, and implementation of the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) Standards on Middle Level Teacher Preparation; maintain active involvement with the Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Preparation (CAEP); act as liaison with other professional teacher education associations; support the effort of other AMLE committees regarding middle school teacher education; assist in the promotion of AMLE publications relating to middle school teacher preparation and licensure; and support the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards by providing input into the development and implementation of all standards relating to middle level education.
