Top Ten Favorite Freebies of the Student Reporters

by Friendswood Junior High students

  1. Climbing the rock wall at Outdoor Escape—how awesome would that be to have one in your school???

  2. Wikki Stix—not just an ordinary toy, this baby is festively-colored, 3-dimensional, and educational!

  3. Complaint forms from Life Track Services, Inc. These little cuties are the most petite post-its EVER!

  4. Flashing pins—Ah! The simple pleasures in life. And they're free. Sure, we'll throw them away tomorrow, but they were really fun today.

  5. Neon shirt from Interwrite Learning—The shirt has the top 5 reasons your student didn't turn in his homework. Our favorite response is that the neighbor's wireless was down.

  6. Random squishy stress-relieving objects. Why are these so addicting? And do they really relieve stress? If so, why are my teachers so angry? (Just kidding, teachers)

  7. The brain pencil from The National Institute on Drug Abuse. The eraser is shaped like a brain, and the pencil boasts that you can erase your brain with drug use. Very clever!

  8. Mint frogs from Great American Opportunities—small and green, and surprisingly delightful!

  9. Space Blanket from Worldstrides—This blanket will fit in your pocket (and not the cargo pants, super-sized pocket either!) and can even protect you from solar radiation and extreme temperature.

  10. Peacock Feather for Circus for Kids—We've managed to irritate an extraordinary amount of people with this one simple item!! Have you been feathered?

About the authors:
These four press-pass wielding young authors, commonly referred to as the Fellowship of the Lanyards, reside in a sleepy suburb south of Houston, home of TEA-awarded exemplary campus Friendswood Junior High. Under the tutelage of teacher, Danielle Wilkes and principal, Robin Lowe, these kids experienced NMSA; and with laptops in hand, rushed to bring their experiences to you.
