Guidelines for Contributors

Important Notice for Authors

Research in Middle Level Education Online has moved to an online submission system. Please see the following updated instructions for submitting your manuscript online.

Manuscript Preparation

Length
Manuscripts, including references, range from 25 to 40 double-spaced pages. Tables and figures should be placed at the end of text.

Format and Style
The text and references should be double-spaced with 1" wide margins in 12-point font. Authors need to (a) follow the 6th edition of Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association and (b) include a 150-200 word abstract. Manuscripts should have no reference to the author(s) to ensure a blind review.

Submission Process

To submit a manuscript, go to http://www.editorialmanager.com/rmle

Please register as an author and fill out the required information. You will upload directly to the site the following separate documents:

(a) your cover letter addressed to Editor Dr. Karen Weller Swanson
(b) a title page with author name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information for the corresponding author
(c) your manuscript with any tables and/or figures

Please do not include any identifying information in your manuscript document or in the document file names. You will receive an automated e-mail acknowledgement of successful submission. Manuscripts that do not meet submission requirements will be returned to the author.

Review Process

Manuscripts are initially reviewed by the editor. Manuscripts that meet the journal's standards are forwarded to three reviewers who serve on the Editorial Review Board. A decision regarding publication is typically reached within two months of the date the manuscript is sent out for review. This decision is communicated to the corresponding author by e-mail.

Editing

Research in Middle Level Education Online reserves the right to edit manuscripts to improve clarity and to conform to style.
