Elliot Y. Merenbloom served as a middle school principal, director of middle school instruction, and area director in Baltimore County, Maryland before embarking upon a career as a consultant. He conducts workshops on scheduling, teaming, and the engagement approach to instruction. With Barbara A. Kalina, he co-authored Making Creative Schedules Work in Middle and High Schools and Creative Scheduling for Diverse Populations in Middle and High School.


In her 30+ years in education, Barbara Kalina taught middle school students, served as adjunct professor teaching middle school methods and curriculum, serves on the AIMS Board, and consults nationally. Her areas of expertise include the effective use of common plan time; the engagement approach to instruction; flexible approaches in the use of time; and literacy strategies. With Elliot Y. Merenbloom, she co-authored Making Creative Schedules Work in Middle and High Schools, and Creative Scheduling for Diverse Populations in Middle and High School.
