Common Core State Standards for Mathematics: Dream Come True or Nightmare to Come?

Article Description: The Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM) are an evolutionary step that builds on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) 1989 and 2000 standards. Adoption of the CCSSM by so many states provides coherent and rigorous expectations for the nation and also affords the possibility of creating the high-quality tests needed to measure those standards.
