Literacy as the Link: Common Core Standards and Content Area Teaching

Article Description: The Common Core State Standards provide incentive for teachers of all content areas to focus on literacy across the curriculum. Ginni and Jason Fair offer several strategies for linking literacy to science and social studies content, including building on the familiar, adding rigor, and connecting reading and writing.
