What is a listserve? A listserve is a program that maintains one or more mailing lists on a central computer. The program distributes each e-mail that is sent to a common mailbox by any member of the list to all the others on the list. Anyone who is subscribed to the list can send an e-mail to the main e-mail address, and that message is sent to the inbox of the other subscribers. The MiddleTalk listserve allows all members to send and to receive the e-mail messages.

What are the benefits of taking part in a listserve? There are several benefits to participating in a listserve
What does it mean to be "moderated"? Someone acts as a facilitator in a "moderated list." These facilitators or moderators help to maintain focus and assist list members with technical concerns. The conversation is free-flowing. The moderator does not view or approve messages before they're posted. All messages sent to the e-mail address of the list are automatically sent to everyone on the list. Administrative tasks for the list are handled by AMLE Membership Manager, Derek Neal (dneal@amle.org).
How do I sign up? AMLE members who have signed in to Member Access, can click on the "Subscribe" link on this page. Note that you will need your member number to initiate this process.
How do I unsubscribe from the listserve? You may unsubscribe yourself by going to http://www.milepost1.com/archives/middletalk1.html
If you have any questions or difficulties, you may also send a private e-mail to the AMLE Membership Manager (dneal@amle.org) and request to be unsubscribed.
Can we post files on the listserve? For security reasons, the listserve does not allow attachments. Teachers who wish to share documents or files may do so privately off the listserve.
How is confidentiality handled on the listserve?Archives are only available to members of the listserve. However, any member of the listserve is free to forward the conversation, thereby pushing the conversation into the public domain. If someone has a highly confidential issue to discuss, that individual may e-mail AMLE Membership Manager, Derek Neal (dneal@amle.org) and request that the message be forwarded to the listserve anonymously. This happens very rarely, and we do not encourage this kind of communication.
What do I do if I have concerns about someone violating community principles? If you have concerns about violation of community principles, privately contact AMLE Membership Manager, Derek Neal (dneal@amle.org).
Whom do I contact if I have problems with my account? Please send a private e-mail to the AMLE Membership Manager (dneal@amle.org) explaining what problems you are having.
Whom do I contact if I want to make changes to my account? You may make changes on your own by going to http://www.milepost1.com/archives/middletalk1.html
If you have questions or difficulties, send a private e-mail to the AMLE Membership Manager (dneal@amle.org) explaining the situation and the changes you request.
