Erik M. Francis, M.Ed., M.S. is an author, educator, and speaker who specializes in teaching and learning that promotes cognitive rigor and postsecondary (college and career) readiness. He is the author of Now THAT'S a Good Question! How to Promote Cognitive Rigor Through Classroom Questioning (ASCD). He is also the owner of Maverik Education LLC, providing academic professional development and consultation to K-12 schools, colleges, and universities on how to develop rigorous teaching learning environments and deliver inquiry-driven educational experiences that engage and encourage students to demonstrate higher order thinking and communicate depth of knowledge.
Erik has been an educator for more than 20 years, working as a middle and high school teacher, a site administrator, and an education program specialist in the Title I Unit and Office of English Language Acquisition Service in the Arizona Department of Education. He received his Master in Education Leadership degree from Northern Arizona University and his Master of Science degree in Film and Television Production and Management from the S.I. Dr. Bobby Moore is known for high energy, engaging and thought-provoking keynote addresses, presentations and workshops. Bobby has presented all over the country and internationally. As the former principal of Nationally Recognized Middle School and the author of the AMLE published book Inspire, Motivate, Collaborate, he is recognized across the country as a thought leader in education. While serving as Middle School principal, his school received visitors from all over the state to learn how one of the lowest funded districts in Ohio, was also one of the highest performing, despite poverty and limited resources. During his time as a superintendent Bobby led his district to the highest rating of Excellent with Distinction, the very first time ever for the district, and to a ranking among the top districts in the state for student growth. The last several years, Bobby led one of the largest school improvement collaboratives in the United States for the not for profit Battelle for Kids and has done extensive consulting with state departments of education and large urban districts such as Charlotte Mecklenburg, Los Angeles Unified, Hillsborough County and Atlanta Public Schools. Bobby has written numerous articles for principal, superintendent and scholarly journals. Katie Powell began teaching in 2005, first in special education and later in Title 1. Ruthie Smith Stevenson, Ph.D., is a professor and coordinator of the doctoral program in educational leadership K–12, at Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. She is a member of the Mississippi Board of Examiners (NCATE), an AMLE Institutes for Middle Level Leadership faculty member, and president of the Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
