Founded by General Colin Powell, America's Promise Alliance is comprised of corporations, nonprofit organizations, foundations, policymakers, advocacy groups, and faith groups. They are committed to seeing that children experience the fundamental resources they need to succeed—the Five Promises—at home, in school, and in the community. They believe that children's success is grounded in having caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, an effective education, and opportunities to help others.
Attendance Awareness Month
Attendance Works is a national and state initiative that promotes awareness of the important role that school attendance plays in achieving academic success starting with school entry. The goal is to ensure that every district in the country not only tracks chronic absence data beginning in kindergarten or ideally earlier, but also partners with families and community agencies to intervene when attendance is a problem for children or particular schools.
Coalition to Support Grieving Students
The Coalition to Support Grieving Students is a unique collaboration of the leading professional organizations representing classroom educators and other school professionals who have come together with a common conviction: grieving students need the support and care of the school community. Middle Level Education Research Special Interest Group
The Middle Level Education Research Special Interest Group (MLER SIG), an affiliate of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), represents the largest group of middle grades researchers in the U.S. and beyond. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program
