Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA) Chapter Award

The Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA) Chapter Award is sponsored by the AMLE Foundation Fund and is presented to the CMLA chapter that has demonstrated commitment to the preparation of future middle grades teachers.

Award
The recipient of this award will receive $2,000 to help defray the cost of sending students to the AMLE's Annual Conference for Middle Level Education, held annually in November. The winning chapter recognized at the conference and is guaranteed a presentation.

Eligibility
To apply for this award:

  • The chapter must be a recognized chapter of the Collegiate Middle Level Association
  • The award money must be used to defer AMLE conference registration, travel, housing, and/or meals
  • The chapter must send at least two students to the conference

Submission
All applications must be sent electronically to  at the AMLE national headquarters.

Criteria/Evidence

  1. List of officers
  2. Letters of support from the chapter sponsor and Dean or Chairperson of the teacher education program
  3. List of chapter activities
    Rubric for chapter activities
    3.1 Activity involved middle school students (1-5 scale)
    3.2 Activity was done in a school setting (1-5 scale)
    3.3 Activity focused on professional development (1-5 scale)
    3.4 Activity was done as a part of Month of the Young Adolescent(1-5 scale)
  4. Proposal for presenting a concurrent session at the conference entitled, "A Student's Perception of What is Required to Become an Effective Middle Level Teacher"

2 members of the AMLE Foundation Fund Committee
1 member of the AMLE Professional Preparation Advisory Committee
1 member of the National Association of Professors of Middle Level Education (NaPOMLE)
